ATTENTION DEALERS:

When you are advertising a vehicle, please take extreme caution to ensure that you advertise that a $150 negotiable documentary service fee may or does apply. The Attorney General's office has been performing "push reviews" where they randomly check dealer websites. Unlawful acts and practices. If you do not include wording like, "a negotiable $150 documentary servcie fee may apply" you could be liable for an assessment from the Attorney General's office for fees and costs expended to ensure compliance.

Hurricane Harvey Flood Damage inventory

Dealers be aware! It is anticipated as many as 500,000 cars, pickups motorcycles and RVs were damaged by flood waters in Texas (and other States), with another estimated 350,000 NEW autos damaged.

At the annual Board Meeting of the Washington State Independent Auto Dealers Association, the members unanimously agreed to change the ByLaws, rewriting Article V WSIADA Management Section 1.A to add a section 5.

Distracted driver law in effect

Driving may feel like second-nature, but it is a very complex, multitask activity that requires you to process constant changes to the roadway, traffic signals/signs, decisions by other drivers, and proximity to other vehicles. When distracted behind the wheel, you have slower reaction times and suppressed brain activity, you scan the road less and can miss visual cues, critical events or objects, all of which can lead to a crash.

Status of Senate bill dealing with car tabs and taxes...

The GOP legislation passed Tuesday, Senate Bill 5893, slashes the tax rate from the current 1.1 percent to 0.5 percent and requires Sound Transit calculate car tab fees using vehicle valuations in the Kelley Blue Book.

On March 1, 2017 Motor Vehicle Excise Tax (MVET) will increase from 0.3% to 1.1% in Sound Transit’s taxing district which includes the most populated areas of King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.
